Honors Program Excursion coming up! On October 20, we’ll venture to the Chicago Humanities Festival to explore a theme of Animal: What Makes Us Human.
Two one-hour events are on the docket (descriptions adapted from the website):
“Darwin’s Biology of Intelligent Design” – University of Chicago historian of science Robert J. Richards traces similarities between ideas held by Darwinians and proponents of intelligent design…revealing a fascinating perspective on the role of God and morality in the great scientist’s work.
“Different Foods=Different Dudes: A Primer in Zooarchaeology” – Gil Stein, director of the University of Chicago’s Oriental Institute, shows how zooarchaeology—the study of animal remains in the archaeological record—is advancing our knowledge of early civilization.
Then, pizza at Medici on 57th. We’ll leave campus at 1:15p and return around 8:00pm.
